If things still dont work pick up a bottle of print head cleaning solution. If after repeating this process lets say three times give your printer a rest overnight. Even try making a photo print sometime in between, dont rely only on the nozzle check print as sometimes even a less than perfect print nozzle can produce photos that are to your satisfaction. If this series of three head cleaning and one nozzle check doesnt help make your printer work right again you may repeat this process.
Doing anymore tha three seperate print head cleaning in a row can hurt your printer because it can overhead the print heads. Then its important to stop and run one single print nozzle check to make sure that the printer is working properly. Then run a series of THREE seperate head cleaning cycles on the printer. Place the new cartridges in the printer and allow it to prime. If they haven t been replaced recently replace them first regardless of what ink quantity you believe to have inside. First, always make sure you have plenty of ink in your cartridges. We recommend the following sequence to properly clean the heads on this printer. This will make sure the printer is totally operation before you blow your hard earned money on a bad print.Īdditionally, this printer will require print head cleaning at times. If you are paying some sort of fee for the prints you make, like many of our customers, we recommend also making a test print every morning. This helps protect the print heads from drying out and also makes sure to prime the heads before printing the next day when you turn it back on. Under commercial use, we recommend turning off the printer every evening. Maintenance for this printer model is simple. 2 years is average for this model but unfortunately we cant report any customers with a 1280 in use for anymore than that. Even under commercial use, the Epson 1280 printer lasts for years. We have experience with over 100 owners of Epson 1280 printers, actual customers of ours whom have been buying our 1520 inks.
Although OEM Epson inks can run $30 to $35 for this model we stock Epson compatible inks for $3.30 to $6.30 each. Ink for this printer model is also inexpensive. This printer can produce beautiful prints without all the hassle of the whistles lights and bells that always seem to break after a year. But because this printer is so low tech its actually way more reliable than the new Epsons. Like the Epson 1520 the Epson 1280 printer gets a bad rap sometimes because its an older design but especially because it lacks many of the features of the new Epson models.
